A NOTE FROM OUR FOUNDER
Carole
I was walking down Penkridge High Street in 2010, and everything seemed a bit unfamiliar. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it.
The thing is – everything had changed. All of the independent shops and businesses that I remembered were gone.
That’s when I had a brainwave:
What if we could help?
We’ve always loved local stories, local people, and local businesses.

Jenny, my daughter, was just starting a marketing degree, so I thought what better real-world experience is there than the two of us trying to build a community magazine?!
The Penkridge Advertiser was born!

And for more than a decade, our free monthly magazines have been hand-delivered to more than 25,000 homes and businesses in Penkridge, Stafford, and Cannock.
When we began, it was a little bit different to what it is today… I’m talking stacks of copies in the bedroom, last-minute calls on my mobile, and Jenny juggling her time between her degree and the magazine.
We knew that the local community needed to connect more with local businesses
– the issue wasn’t that they didn’t want to use them…
It was that they didn’t know of them.
So, we set about making that happen.
It wasn’t just local businesses that we wanted to help, though. We both said at an early stage that we wanted to be more than just a community magazine… we wanted to be a hub for all things good in the community.
We set out to raise awareness for local charities and support good causes in Penkridge, Cannock & Stafford.
And we’re proud to say that it’s still a pivotal part of our ethos.
TIn fact, we’ve helped A LOT of local businesses get off the ground, grow, and flourish.
We’ve come a long way since Jenny sat in our home office and pulled together the first ever issue in between university lectures – so we know better than most what it takes to get a local business going!
Today, we continue to deliver the best local features, companies, good causes, and services right to your doorstep. Same great magazine, just a bit more refined!
